Dwell . . . new homes in a lakeside village

Conningbrook Lakes will also be a place to live, with plans for a lakeside village of 300 homes, which is in accordance with Ashford Borough Council's latest emerging planning policy. As well as providing the all-important funding for the country park and its facilities, the village will be one of the most desirable new housing developments in the region. We have provided a taste of the proposed designs here.

Our architects have set out to echo the best of mid-Kent / Weald local architecture but with a contemporary waterfront treatment with balconies and decks to reinforce a feeling of outdoor living allied to appreciation of the surrounding natural world.

The development will achieve a high quality feel to the waterside village, both in the houses and in the environment. We envisage traditionally scaled two-storey homes with emphasis on privacy in the rear gardens and with parking within the plots. There would be a medley of house types, all enjoying high levels of daylight and strong on energy conservation.

Public areas would be maintained to a high level and would give priority to people rather than cars, with 20 mph speed limits and provision for walking, cycling and play. Those who live in Conningbrook’s stylish new village will have lakeside walks and all the other benefits of the country park right on their doorsteps. What do you think?
