Play . . . fun for all the family in a spectacular environment

Ashford Borough Council’s concept for Conningbrook Lakes is of a family-orientated lakeside country park — a place where local people can enjoy any of a range of low-intensity activities in a beautiful environment.

The circular lake and pathways along the Great Stour will provide a glorious place to walk and cycle amongst newly-created features that capitalise on the special environment. You will also be able to join the local footpath / cycle network that will take you onto the Kent Downs, to the historic town of Wye or via the centre of Ashford to the grand landscaped Discovery Park and to the Willesborough Dykes wetlands beyond.

Within Conningbrook Lakes itself, we aim to provide facilities that will enable you to learn to sail, canoe or kayak. There will also be safe swimming in waters that already welcome organised triathlons for the super fit. Fishermen know Conningbrook’s carp secrets and can look forward to improved facilities for fishing and a further quiet lake.

When it’s time for a break, you will be able to enjoy a coffee and cake on a piazza terrace overlooking the lakes, or a hearty meal in a family restaurant.

Ashford Borough Council and Brett have been involving local groups in the thinking process that has determined which recreational facilities are included. The aim is for Conningbrook Lakes to be very much a partnership.
